First International Workshop on Advances in Emerging Wireless Networks and Systems

Advances in mobile and wireless communications and technologies make possible for anytime and anyplace availability of information services. Ever-growing popularity of mobile devices, such as smart phones and PDAs, compels the development of innovative architectures, applications, and network services for them. Thus we are experiencing an explosive increasing in value-added applications, such as real-time multimedia services. In recent years, there is an emerging diversity of wireless systems, architectures and standards. The enabling technologies include WiFi, WiMAX, mobile ad hoc networks, wireless sensor networks, wireless mesh networks, 3G, and 4G that are among popular for the applications and services needed for future generation networks.

Even though these technologies possess enormous promises for the next-generation networks, there are several challenging issues (e.g., architectures, resource allocation, mobility management, QoS provisioning, security) that need to be addressed. To solve these burning issues in emerging wireless networks and systems, academicians and researchers have been putting their efforts and furnishing innovative ideas in term of novel protocols, architectures and algorithms. Requisites of emerging wireless networks and systems open further opportunities for extensive research topics targeting at concepts, methodologies, and techniques to support advanced value-added services.

This workshop will focus on algorithms, protocols, architectures, and applications with coverage of all layers, i.e., from the physical layer to the information handling layers of the network that will have a significant impact for the successful deployment of emerging wireless networks and systems. The workshop will provide an opportunity for academic and industry professionals to discuss the latest issues related to advances in emerging wireless networks and systems. The workshop is intended to encourage cooperation among academicians and researchers and push the theoretical and practical research forward for a deeper understanding on the emerging wireless networks and systems.

ÆWiNS 2010 will be in conjunction with the 5th International Conference on Future Information Technology (FutureTech 2010) in Busan, Korea.
